Villa de Cubero Trading Post: What do novelist Ernest Hemingway, Vivian Vance of television fame, Route 66, and the Villa de Cubero Trading Post have in common? It's quite a tale... A particular room was pointed out to me where Ernest Hemingway supposedly stayed in 1951 while writing his Pulitzer Prize winning novel The Old Man and the Sea. Mary, a Gottlieb relative who cleaned his room, considered him a slob for tossing wine bottles from the window and called him El Diablo (The Devil)...
